I just opened a draft of this blog, checked my calender and nearly expired. There are unbelievably only six weeks left until the publication of Ghosts. SIX WEEKS FOLKS?? Excuse me while I hyperventilate quietly.
So what are the next month and a half going to look like?
As you know if you have read my recent posts, I’ve technically already had the first book event for Ghosts - a book party at Glasgow Worldcon, celebrating some of the upcoming releases from the Edinburgh SFF Writers Group. It’s not normal to have a book event 3 months before it’s actually available to buy! But this was us taking the opportunity of having the Worldcon come to Scotland to promote our books even though they weren’t quite out yet - and what a mad, busy, buzzy, wonderful event it was. Fifty people got to take away ARCs of Ghosts, along with gorgeous character art bookmarks and mini bottles of valerian root to ward off any digital ghosts. I only got to talk to them fleetingly, but it was lovely to meet so many people who liked the sound of the book & I really hope they’ve enjoyed reading it (and perhaps even told a person or two about it if so!).
The book is at the printers as we speak, there was a fantastic flurry of last minute blurbs in from some brilliant authors, leaving me very flattered and swoony, and at the last minute my amazing editor, Amanda, managed to get consent for …. *drumroll* … GOLD FOILING!! So I have got the gold bees of my dreams!!
But now the book itself is out of our hands, the pre-pub focus is on…
